EASTERNCHILD PUTS YOU ON KJ SPIO’S ‘’JEALOUS ‘’

‘Jealous’ is a dynamic and emotionally charged track exploring themes of love, envy, and vulnerability. KJ Spio‘s innovative approach to Afro-pop and R&B is evident. Sarkodie‘s powerful verses inject a raw and authentic Ghanaian flavour, elevating the track’s intensity. Loick‘s smooth vocals add depth to the song, while Ambré’s soulful tones provide a compelling contrast.

JEALOUSE ARTWORK

EasternChild: Congratulations on the release of your new single ‘Jealous‘! Can you tell us about the inspiration behind the song and how the collaboration with Loick, Bryyce, Ambré, and Sarkodie came about?

KJ Spio: Many thanks! It came about from a conversation I had with Loick (the inspiration of the song is driven from personal experiences) treating your loved ones so good that people get JEALOUS of your relationship

KJ SPIO

EasternChild: ‘Jealous’ explores themes of love, envy, and vulnerability. How did you and the featured artists approach these themes in your songwriting and performance?

KJ Spio: The emotion behind JEALOUS is actually from a place of love. The jealousy comes from people looking at the relationship and good it is that it brings about jealousy. For Sark it was very easy for him because he’s actually married to his high school sweetheart and their love and relationship is so beautiful that others would be jealous (in the sense of wanting the same love and affection in their own relationship) in the context of the song JEALOUS is more of an aspiration thing

EC: The production by M.O.G. Beatz and C Figz adds a unique depth to ‘Jealous’. How was the process of working with them, and what do you think they brought to the track?

KJS: MOG I have been working with for a while as he’s Sark main producer. I had the basic idea of how I wanted the drums to start so that’s where it started. We built on the ideas Loick presented. I work with MOG on the production and later had C Figz add keys for texture. The sound is very vocal forward and the instrumental for ambience ( wanted the message to be clear and lead in the sound)

EC: You have an impressive background, starting from managing UK rap icon Big Narstie to becoming the creative director at CEEK. How have these experiences shaped your career and influenced your music?

KJS: All my experience have greatly influenced me in the records I make as I can easily draw from the experience I gained working on projects for other artists especially when it come to the creative process

EC: You’ve nurtured and managed talents like Cadet, whose single ‘Advice’ became a platinum hit. What do you consider your key strengths as a manager and creative director?

KJS: Would say my creativity and work ethic. I’ve always been involved in the creative and marketing process in every project

EC: As someone who has worked extensively in both the UK and African music industries, how do you navigate the different music scenes, and what unique elements do you bring from each to your work?

KJS: I’ve always seen music as not having any genres or boundaries. I draw from the emotional aspects of music nd what connections with me especially when it comes to lyrics

EC: Can you tell us about any upcoming projects or collaborations you’re excited about? What can fans expect from you in the near future?

KJS: I have a lot of really amazing records lined up that I can’t wait to share with the world

EC: With ‘Jealous’ now out, what do you hope listeners take away from the song?

KJS: To treat our relationships so good that others would be JEALOUS and want the same

EC: Finally, what advice would you give to aspiring artists and music professionals who look up to you and want to follow in your footsteps?

KJS: Would say consistency is key. Do more, don’t have to be great to start, you have to start to be great.
